Abstract

Purpose : This study was attempted to investigate healthcare associated infection of nursing students.

Methods : A survey was conducted using structured questionnaire. A total of 172 nursing students in Yong-in area college
were collected.

Results : Among the areas of healthcare associated infection, the areas with low recognition scores were ¡®Wash hands well for at least 15 second¡¯ and ¡®Wash hands before wearing gloves¡¯. ¡®Do not separate the connection between the catheter and the urine bag except for inevitable cleaning¡¯ and ¡®The sterilization period of apparatus should set and disinfect again¡¯. The recognition of healthcare associated infection in the 4th grades was significantly higher than that of first grades. The recognition of healthcare associated infections who had more than 6 times of handwashing per day was significantly higher than that of students who had less than 5 times.

Conclusion : From the above, the recognition of healthcare associated infections varies depending on the grade, number of handwashing during the day so it is thought that it can be better to take these variables into account when educating healthcare associated infections of nursing students.
